It is said that ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’. Luckily enough, the one that leads us to productivity improvement has a far way more pleasant destination. Besides, it is made up of facts, not mere wishes. As we walk on it, we find keyboard shortcuts, all kinds of help and time-saving tricks, and especially the atmosphere is much more positive.
Save time with keyboard shortcuts
When surfing the internet, users want to save time. To do so, apart from everyone’s own skills, there are keyboard shortcuts, which are just keys combinations that help us perform the most usual tasks more efficiently.
Some browsers and devices use their own keyboard shortcuts, but there are many others which are common to all of them and we’ve selected the most useful ones. They can be used on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome; and if you’re a Mac user, you have to press Command instead of Ctrl.
Ctrl + N
Opens a new window.
Ctrl + T
Opens a new tab.
Ctrl + W o Ctrl + F4
Closes the current window.
Ctrl + Shift + T
Opens a recently closed window (or windows, not just the last one).
Ctrl + F
Used to find a term on the open window. You just have to type it in the search box and then press Enter.
Ctrl + D
Bookmarks the current window. If you want to save all the open pages as bookmarks, then the combination is Ctrl + Shift + D.
Ctrl + +
Ctrl + –
Ctrl + H
Opens the History page in a new tab.
Ctrl + P
Prints the current window.
Keyboard shortcuts for everybody
This is just a small sample of what you can do thanks to these combinations. However, if you have an Apple device, or use Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Linux, you can always look for more specific shortcuts. Moreover, there’s always Wikipedia to provide comparative tables so that we can have all the information in just one place. Even social networking sites have their own keyboard shortcuts, and you can see them all by taking a look at these awesome infographics by m2social.
Stop believing that you should suffer to succeed. Of course, you have to keep on working hard, but you can also press Ctrl + D and bookmark this post to always have it at hand. You’ll boost your productivity by starting to save seconds, then minutes, and by the end of the year you will have saved hours.
And if you don’t take our word for it, download Kiply and check it out yourself 😉
